A well-known rule of thumb from electronics says that reducing the temperature by 10 ° C doubles the lifetime of a device.

This shows that thermal management is an important topic for LED applications, industrial PCs, solar converters, motor controls, high frequency power supplies, for super caps, high performance capacitors, together with Peltier elements, in battery technology, power grids, in information technology, power electronics such as IGBT units, dv / dt filters, noise filters in general and in automotive applications (HEV, OBC, DC / DC converters).

Thermoconductive insulation films, silicone film, metal foils

CMC Klebetechnik offers efficient products (e.g. Kapton MT +) for "heat dissipation". This ensures the heat can be removed as quickly as possible from the place of origin.

It is roughly divided into thermoconductive materials which are also electroconductive and those products which, although conducting the heat, have an electrically insulating effect. In addition to the Kapton® variants described here, you can also receive thermoconductive silicone films and gap fillers from CMC. All these solutions are not only interesting for electronics manufacturers, but also for EMS service providers.

The thermoconductive films can be used as galvanic isolation between the heat sink or heat spreader, to compensate  unevenness on the circuit board or are as thin and space-saving as possible: CMC Klebetechnik offers the right material for your thermal path - in electronics production, transformer construction, for electric drives , electric heaters in dryers, air heaters, oil heaters, for LED illuminations, pipe heaters or in other thermal applications: heat management on demand.

Kapton® polyimide films offer high dielectric strength, extreme thermal stability, low shrinkage and can not break. They are therefore above all in the electronics industry preferred foils for e.g. flexible printed circuits, insulation and heat conduction. Kapton® MT films can also be used as replacement for aluminum oxide ceramic discs (flexible, break-proof).

Compensation of heat transfer resistance

For heat management (thermal management) in electrical engineering and electronics, CMC Klebetechnik offers variants with different coatings based on the heat-conductive Kapton® MT + films. These coatings compensate the surface roughness and thereby significantly reduce the forming contact resistances. Kapton® MT / MT + films are an essential complement to all products offered by CMC for heat management in electronics.

If no insulation function is required or guaranteed by a mechanically defined distance, you can also use gap-filler TEMPRION ™ GF for thermal coupling. These highly-pasty masses (viscious heat conducting paste) are thermoconductive, can, for example, be dispensed from a cartridge. They are a silicone-free alternativeto preformed silicone films. A typical example is DuPont ™ Temprion ™ GF0300 with 3.5 W / m * K heat conduction and good surface wetting.
